Mentoring Programs

Los Angeles Groove’s Achieve Program

After a successful mentoring program in 2016 working with high school students in the Groove Leadership Academy, the LA Grad Chapter made two important decisions. The first was to work with students who had more academic difficulties and personal life struggles than the students we worked with before. The second decision was to catch students at younger ages.

In 2019 the Los Angeles Grad Chapter filed for and received our non-profit status to officially launch the “Los Angeles Groove’s Achieve One Program”.

Groove Leadership Academy 2016

In the fall of 2016, the Grooves of the Los Angeles Grad Chapter began working with young men at one of the largest black churches in Orange County (Second Baptist Church).

The Groove Leadership Academy consisted of academic assistance, life lessons, and field trips including a trip to University of California-Irvine, the Museum of Tolerance, and the African-American History Museum.

Through the generous donations to the Weber & Sanders Scholarship Fund, the LA Grad chapter was able to award a $1,000 scholarship at the end of the school year to one of the young men in the program.
